Hop Into Spring: Frog Felting
Description
We are excited to be welcoming adults and children to this workshop. Everyone is welcome! Anyone participating in the class must pay the ticket fee. Adults accompanying children who are not actively participating are allowed to come without charge.
This is the perfect time to hop on into spring! This is your chance to make your very own frog to celebrate the beginning of the season!
Needling felting is a fun craft and once you start it is hard to stop! By poking a special needle into colored wool, you can sculpt anything you can imagine. Artist LeBrie Rich will teach you about the tools and techniques for sculpting wool with a felting needle. In this class you'll make a clever little mushroom home. After the workshop you will be equipped with the skills to needle felt all kinds of animals and other small sculptures.
Fiber arts is a huge part of the culture in the Nordic countries. Felting has a rich history in the Nordic countries and there is a huge modern revival. The history goes beyond modern record keeping. During the cold months in Nordic countries crafting (especially fiber arts) is a great way to pass the time along with using resources that were traditionally on the farm and the land. Join us in this Nordic tradition with a modern take.
