Family Sun Printing Workshop
Description
This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18. Adult guardians do not have to purchase a ticket if they only plan to assist their children in the craft. Adults who plan to make their own craft are required to purchase a ticket.
A sun print captures nature's silhouette on light-sensitive paper. Placed under sunlight, objects shielded by shapes or hands leave white imprints against a cyan-blue background. The process, also called cyanotype, creates fun compositions, marrying science with art.
Learn how to make two different types of sun prints, one using stencils and one using foraged plants and flowers. You’ll make a handkerchief and an artwork ready to hang in an embroidery hoop.
Using beautiful Nordic motif stencils, and foraged flowers, leaves and other interesting shapes, your projects will remind you of sunny summer days all year long.
All supplies, including fabric and embroidery hoops, are provided. Instructor will guide you through each step and provide enough materials to make one large cotton handkerchief and one 8” embroidery hoop with cotton fabric.
