Rosemaling Rocks for Families

This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18. Adult guardians do not have to purchase a ticket if they only plan to assist their children in the craft. Adults who plan to make their own craft are required to purchase a ticket.
Explore basic rosemaling techniques and create a decoration for the garden! In this unique class, participants explore the intricate art of rosemaling on smooth river rocks.
Rosemaling is a beloved decorative painting style that is a national treasure of Norway. Traditionally adorning wooden cabinets, boxes, panels, and plates, it can be painted on anything - and has been - there are artists who have painted rosemaling on skateboards and on entire houses!
In this introduction to rosemaling, painting rocks is a fun alternative for the beginner. Students will learn about the history and significance of rosemaling in Norwegian culture, and take home a fun decoration that may be the start of a new hobby!
All supplies, including river rocks, paint, brushes, and practice paper are provided. Instructor will guide you through each step and provide enough materials to make one large decorated river rock.
