Family Tree Walk and Journal Making

11/23/2024 12:00 PM - 01:30 PM PT

Description

Join us for a family autumn walk in the woods of Nordic Northwest!

Meet the trees, make bark rubbings, create your own nature journal, and embrace the Nordic concept of friluftsliv – the love of the outdoors.

As the days grow colder and shorter, we naturally turn inward. But that doesn’t mean we need to stay inside! Come take a fun walk where we’ll meet the different trees of Nordic Northwest and take rubbings of their bark and ring patterns. We’ll listen to a Nordic folktale, and make our own nature journals using materials we collect on our walk. We’ll take time for a mindful listen of our surroundings, and sit among the trees to write and draw in our journals. All under the friendly eye of a certain very tall troll.

The walking portion is not long, about a quarter mile total around the campus of Nordic Northwest, with many stops, and will be held rain or shine. There will be inside options for writing and tree rubbings if there is too much rain to use paper outside.
