Join us at Fogelbo to help give a tour of the historic log cabin and experience it in all its autumn glory. You will be assigned a spot in the house and learn more about it to then give the tour! This opportunity is open to all Fogelbo docents who have previously done tours or attended a docent training. We will also provide you with information prior to the tours. Be a part of Nordic Northwest biggest fundraiser of the year. Nordic Nights, Auction & Gala! The committee makes this special night sparkle. Procurement, auction packages, decorations, entertainment, drinks and dinner.

Do you have good organizational skills and a passion for event planning and sharing Nordic culture? We'd love to have you. Each committee member is asked to take the lead on one event element and see it through to completion. This might include procurement of items, creating auction packages, working on decorations, dinner and drinks.

 We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to help with the crafts. Shift time: 9:30am-12pm

The Development Committee leads Nordic Northwest's strategic direction that identifies philanthropy's role in accomplishing its strategic plan, vision & mission. It's sub-committees are ScanFair, Nordic Nights, Scandinavian of the Year Award, and Viking Beer Fest. The committee is looking for volunteers with community and/or business connections, fundraising, event planning or business leadership background.

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to assist with the bar. Volunteers will be trained by staff and are welcome to stay during the program. Shift: 5-8pm Concert: 6-8pm

Help set up class, keep things organized, and help clean up. Some basic wood working and tool use experience a plus, but not necessary.  Shift time: 9:30am-1pm.

Do you have experience with basic woodworking and tool safety? Assist students with their projects, with an eye on using tools safely. Experience teaching (formal or informal) carpentry or woodworking a big plus!   Shift time: 9:30am-1pm.

Do you have a background in education, docent touring, or love working with students and sharing knowledge through tours, games and activities? Share your skills and experience and help create fun, meaningful field trip visits for students of all ages who come to the Nordic Northwest Campus for our Trolls, Trails, and Tall Tales field trips! Our field trips are centered on Ole Bolle Troll and include Fogelbo, Nordia House, with subject matter in Nordic culture and folktales, nature education, and sustainability. You’ll be helping set up, prepare for, and assist during all parts of the field trips. All information, orientations, and trainings are provided in preparation for assisting. 

Welcome to the magical setting of Old World Scandinavia where volunteers bring history to life! Become a tour docent, welcome guests into the Fogelbo home and share the enchanting heritage & collection Ross Fogelquist acquired over the last half century. 
Volunteers are asked to learn the basic histories of the Fogelbo Steiner cabin, the Fogelquist family, and some collection items. There will be a training for first time docents by our lead docents, members of the Fogelbo heritage Committee, prior to their first tour. Depending on the time of year or tour theme, Scandinavian traditions are implemented. 
Docents cover certain areas of the residence, such as the kitchen, main living area, or upstairs items and need to be familiar with several collection items in specific areas they interpret. Historical information and significance are available for docents to study. 
Tours occur quarterly for two consecutive days. Typically Friday & Saturday in Spring, Early Summer, Fall & Winter. Any time you can donate is greatly appreciated.
The tour docents’ goal is to engage, connect, and hopefully, bring the magic to life. The Fogelbo Heritage Committee & tour docents aim to convey enthusiasm for Scandinavian heritage and history.

We are looking for 2 volunteers to be on hand to help with check-in. Volunteers will be trained by staff and welcome to stay for program. Shift: 5:30pm-7:30pm

Little Saturday, or Lillördag (Sweden), Lille lørdag (Denmark and Norway), Pikkulauantai (Finland), is a Nordic tradition of breaking up the work-week with a Wednesday evening mini-weekend!

Nordic countries are well known for their focus on a healthy work-life balance. Little Saturday, especially during the winter, is a chance to break up the week, get together with friends and family, lift your spirits, and relax.

Little Saturday can be as simple as meeting a friend for a drink, taking a walk with your family, or as involved as hosting a party, or toasting over a decadent dessert with champagne. The important thing is to unplug, unwind, and recharge.Brighten your mid-winter and join us for a little Lillordag, where we’ll have delicious homemade Nordic desserts to try, board games to play, indoor versions of Nordic lawn games like Kubb and Molkky, and Nordic crafts to try your hand at. We’ll also have an indoor scavenger hunt, and live instrumental Nordic folk music.

The evening will include a no host bar of Pacific Northwest beer and wine for purchase, as well as kid-friendly elixirs, Nordic lingonberry drinks, soda, and water.

Nordic desserts and light savory snacks provided as part of the ticket price. Outside food is welcome, if you’d like to bring dinner to have before the desserts! Outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed. 

This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18.

We are looking for... community members with a background in cooking & baking (no professional experience needed) who are interested in planning programs or teaching about various kinds of Nordic inspired meals.

Do you have crafting experience or experience with Nordic folk arts? We are in need of extra pairs of crafty hands for our Youth & Family craft workshops! Assist in setting up, helping students, and cleaning up for a variety of folk and craft classes throughout the year. This is a fun way to learn new skills, share your existing skills, and meet and mingle with the craft-curious of all ages in our community.
